• Kentucky Indy 300 Race Report

• Sparta, Kentucky – As part of the second-largest field of the year next to Indy, both Dale Coyne Racing drivers withstood the cold weather to compete in the Kentucky Indy 300. James Jakes, driver of the #18 Acorn Stairlifts car, finished in 21st position, while Alex Lloyd, driver of the #19 Boy Scouts of America car, finished in 26th position.

  “Not the weekend we were looking for,” said Jakes, “especially after the progress we made in Japan. Hopefully we can figure out our oval set-up again after being on road courses for so long. It was really hard to move up through the field from the back. We just did not have the car we would have liked. Luckily, we have two weeks to figure it out and we’re looking to have a strong showing at Vegas.”

  Returning to the track after nearly a month and a half break while the series ran street courses, Lloyd started today’s race in 24th position. He reached as high as 14th position on the 1.5-mile oval course before his day ended early when he was hit in the pits on lap 140.

  “It was a hard weekend here,” said Lloyd. “We worked hard throughout the weekend to develop the car. We were making a bit of progress but unfortunately, due to an incident in the pits when we were hit by Marco Andretti, our day ended early. We’re looking forward to Vegas and hoping that we can find some things during the next week that will make us quick there.”

  Be sure to tune in two weeks from now as the IZOD IndyCar Series wraps up the season with the World Championships at the Las Vegas Speedway in Las Vegas. The race can be seen live on Sunday, October 16 on ABC at 3:00 PM ET.
