Dale Coyne Racing Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Qualifying Report
Lexington, OH (Saturday, July 6, 2024) – Dale Coyne Racing’s qualifying for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio didn’t go as planned on Saturday with Toby Sowery suffering a hybrid-issue which placed him 26th on the grid for tomorrow’s race while teammate Jack Harvey qualified 27th.
Jack Harvey, #18 INVST, Dale Coyne Racing Honda
Starting: 27th
• Harvey went out in Group 2 of qualifying.
• He registered a fastest lap time of 1:06.9614 on this eighth and final lap of the 10-minute session.
• His time placed him 14th in his group and 27th on the starting grid.
• Harvey has a best finish if fifth in seven starts at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
Post Qualifying Quote
“I feel like I’m repeating myself, once again we made progress throughout the practice sessions but when it came time to put it all together for qualifying we were unable move up on the time sheets. It will be a long race tomorrow and anything can happen. We’ll just keep pushing forward and hopefully we can come out of Mid-Ohio with a decent result.”
Toby Sowery, #51 Global Karting League / Vuzix, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda
Starting: 26th
• Sowery is making his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend.
• He took to the track in Group 1, Round 1 of qualifying.
• Unfortunately for the rookie, an error code caused the hybrid engine to shut down after Sowery stalled his car when trying to exit his pit box.
• With no one familiar with the process to clear the code, Honda lost time manually resetting the system.
• Sowery only had time to register one-lap in the 10-minute session.
Post Qualifying Quote
“Definitely not the qualifying we wanted which is a shame as I would have really enjoyed attacking to see where we stand, however tomorrow is a long day and our race car seems competitive. Things happen in racing and it’s about understanding and learning while progressing forward so it’s something we will take on the chin. I have full confidence in Dale Coyne Racing and Honda to find and resolve the issues from today!”
