“We started 14th, finished, 16th. I think that last yellow probably hurt us quite a bit honestly. Otherwise, I think we could have had a little bit better result than that. I think we lacked a little bit of pace. It’s really difficult to judge fast laps because you’re always coming out in traffic, at least that was my experience today. This is basically a 500-mile race, and we’re halfway, so hopefully we can find some good changes overnight and be better tomorrow.”
Katherine Legge, #51 e.l.f. Cosmetics, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda

• Legge spent most of her first stint in 23rd position and made her first stop on Lap 65.
• She then pitted under caution on Lap 88 and returned to the track in 25th.
• By the time she made her final stop on Lap 198 she was up to 21st.
• She registered the fourth fastest lap of the race on Lap 204 with a time of 23.9524.
• She went on to finish 19th.
Post Race Quote
“There was a lot going on in that race, there was a lot of people struggling. Tire degradation was huge which made it interesting depending on what strategy you were on. If there were cars out there on new tires, they were driving past you like you were standing still and you felt like a hero if you were on new tires. I think we were working with the tools, and we were able to have a relatively fast race car. I didn’t feel particularly ‘racy’ just because of what happened at Gateway (World Wide Technology Raceway) I wanted to finish and get my feet underneath me before taking too many chances but some of them are out there racing dirty. I just have to learn and figure it out for tomorrow.”
