Post Qualifying Quote
“Obviously the rain threw a huge spanner in the works. Today, we tried to go out in the morning practice session but every time we went out there was a red flag and we had to come back in. I think that hurt us a little bit today. For qualifying, there was a red about halfway through, we came in and made a tire pressure adjustment and went back out and the car was completely transformed, in a good way. On the whole, P10 in our group, I think we can race from there and that’s the important thing. Thanks to everyone at Dale Coyne Racing. Let’s have a good day tomorrow.”
Luca Ghiotto, #51 GAV Air Technology, Dale Coyne Racing with RWR Honda
Starting: 23rd
• Ghiotto, who turned his first laps at Road America yesterday, was in Group 1 for Round 1 of qualifying.
• With rain still falling and the track quite wet, Ghiotto took to the track with wet weather tires.
• He registered his fastest lap time of 2:05.1341 on his fourth lap.
• The time initially placed him 10th in his group, but he would end up 12th in Group 1 and 23rd on the starting grid when the checkered flag fell on the 12-minute session.
Post Qualifying Quote
“Qualifying didn’t go as planned for us today at Road America. We were a bit off on the wet tires and that hurt us today in qualifying. But I’m loving this track so far. It’s a great track. It’s just that today has been pretty wet between practice 2 and qualifying. Tomorrow we’ll start 23rd for the race and we’ll see what we can do from there.”
Next up: The XPEL Grand Prix at Road America, goes green at 3:35pm ET June 9, 2024.
